Few holidays involve more traditions than Christmas for families. Being that we are much like a family at IRN, we have a few Christmas traditions that we look forward to all year. We always have a “white Elephant” gift exchange, that we begin with a friendly debate on what the rules actually are. There is always a few gifts involving potty humor (our favorite).
This year we introduced an ugly sweater contest as well. Which, I confess to hot gluing garland & ribbons onto a sweater 15 minutes before (2nd place, thank you very much). Our dispatch coordinator, Meghan, won first place with her Christmas lights & wreath.
Of course, our Christmas dinner tradition is the highlight. We have dinner at the same amazing restaurant every year. After we have all eaten beyond our fill, Eric goes around and says one or two favorite things about each of us (often with a dose of humor). This is also when the Employee of the year is announced. This year, our well deserving Business Manager, Katy Gower, had the honor. It’s a time we all enjoy and all leave reminded how fortunate we are to work with such a great group of people and for such an amazing person.
